Adding and displaying Equations and Formulas in Pages

Hi there,

so I want to do a little exam for the kids, and they have to solve mathematical equations. Now, is there a simpler way than using LaTeX you know, for the non-techies. (Which is why I bought a MacBook in the first place).

I also do not want to install any third-party apps (exception Microsoft Software). I mean, there has to be a better way right? I do not quite understand why I have to learn LaTeX programming just to put together a little exam for the kids? You know, why do I have to type this: 9.700 \times 14\% \times 22 \: Days \over 360 \times 100 to illustrate how to calculate a cash discount??????

Please help, I really don't want to learn LaTeX

The equation editor in Pages is a LaTeX/MathML converter. It is that syntax or no equation in Pages unless you want to write it in plain text. The equation editor in MS Word will allow you to enter it as 9.7000 x 14% x 22 / (360 x 100).

The iPhone/iPad are designed to be touch interface driven. The Mac is not and you cannot draw equations on your Mac screen or in Pages for Mac.

By using LaTeX in the equation editor, that equation is recognized by MS Word after exporting the Pages document to Word. For example:

Appears identically in Pages, and MS Word 16.79.2. This is crucial for document interchange across platforms, though not so much for Math instruction at home.

Yess, I have found that option. Bit still, Pages coule offer it! I mean, we are talking about the most valuable public company IN THE WORLD.

Pages is a very basic word-processing program. It is not intended to replace something like Microsoft Word. What would be the benefit for Apple to sink resources into a feature in a free program that very few people will ever use?

For what you want to do, LaTex wouldn't be that hard to learn.
