Sonoma 14.2 not installing
I keep updating to Sonoma 14.2 but it doesn’t finish. Should I restart my Mac Air M2?

I'm having same problem. Just tried updating my M1 MBP twice in a row.....each time I get the white apple on black background, but it's gone again way too fast to be a dot OS update, and then it restarts, and then.....14.1.
Complete OS update failure.
I have now attempted to install Sonoma 14.2 THIRTEEN times but after each attempt my computer remains stuck on Ventura 13.3.1 (a). I have tried Safe Mode and removing unwanted apps and disconnecting hardware but all to no avail. My computer is a Mac Mini 2 (bought new in March 2023) with a new Studio Display. I expect much better than this from Apple after spending so much money. Who may I contact for advice?
Where in the update process are you? Don't restart it if it is showing an apple logo with a progress bar, if this is the case wait for it to finish. How long is the update still installing? You might want to wait a little
I had to restart the install 3 times .. and it downloaded the update each time!
eventually instead of clicking on the restart now button in System settings - but the one in the top right (it has a 60 second countdown to auto reboot) .. after that my machine updated ok

I still don't know why it wouldn't work the normal way.
If the install worked fine in Safe Mode, this typically indicates 3rd party software in interfering with a normal installation.
Do you have any anti-virus, Mac "Cleaner", Mac "Optimizer" or VPN software installed? If so, I recommend you uninstall them with the vendors' uninstaller. They simply aren't needed on a Mac, and almost always create issues rather than prevent them. (The only use case for VPN would be if it's needed to connect your Mac to a corporate system that requires VPN).
Wait a little? it's stuck for hours at 5%-10% of the loading bar, not moving one millimeter in 2 hours or more, is that normal ?
