iPhone 15 Call Volume Too Loud

Phone call volume on iPhone 15 is way too loud, even at the lowest setting. This is not for headphones, but for the phone speaker itself, without earbuds or headphones. Yes, I can adjust it with the side button. Yes, I do this during a call. Yes, it is for every caller. I cannot keep the phone against my ear, because it is so loud, which allows every one else in the same room to hear the caller. This has been an ongoing issue with several phones. Please fix this, Apple. You are blowing out my eardrums.

This is NOT the problem. The problem is the range of volume options that Apple gives. The lowest volume option possible is still too loud. Even if you expand the volume slider with haptic touch. At some point, the volume goes from low (but still too loud) to mute. There should be more volume options on the lower scale. Especially as having many options on the very loud side are less important.

iPhone 15 pro max

iOS 17.5.1 (21F90)

While on the phone’s Speakerphone the lowest setting I can put it in is still too loud. I try lowering further but it just bounces back. It’s ridiculous that Apple thinks this is an acceptable minimum volume output. I’ve literally had to put my hand over the speaker and then switch to using the phone up to my ear. What is happening with quality control, I’ve been running into more and more issues lately, but then we are getting close to a new release and I suppose Apple is just trying to get people to buy a new device. After having iPhones since version 4, I think I’m ready to seriously consider other brands as I am tired of the phone (what it’s supposed to be best at) not working, or apps suddenly crashing, or Apple allowing third party apps to control the music I’m listening to. If I want to listen to something else, let me make the switch and not the third party app. I really hate it when ads pop up, and then my music stops, but does the app restore my music - no. I have to go to my music app and restart playing my music. Thanks Apple!

Try going in to settings, then heading to Sounds&Haptics and turning the option "Change with Buttons" off. This option disables your iPhone of only lowering Ringtone volume instead lowering it for media. You can also try lowering the slider at Ring Tone and Alerts. These settings are located on the top of the page.
