Cycling workout not showing up as Live Activity on iPhone

After installing watchos10, I noticed that when I began a Cycling workout, it would automatically show up as a Live Activity on my iPhone. It worked well for several cycling workouts. I inadvertently X-ed out of it on my iPhone one day during my workout and it has not worked since. I've confirmed the watch is connected to my iPhone via bluetooth and the View Metrics on iPhone is ON in the iPhone Workout watch app settings. I have tried rebooting my iPhone. Any ideas on how to get this working again?

I just saw in Reddit the suggestion to open the Activity or Fitness app after starting the activity and not showing up as live activity... just tested it and worked for me...

Prior to that, I enabled the listed activities and also allowed Live Activities when locked (as mentioned in this same thread).

Thanks for your reply. I did go to Notifications and was hopeful after changing from Stack to List, but unfortunately it didn’t fix it.

it’s really weird. Everything was working fine and one day while riding, I reached down to my phone after receiving an imessage, and I believe i X-ed out of the Ride Display on my phone. Since then it has not worked.
