Non-Apple mouse won't stay connected?

I used a wired Macally mouse with my Macbook Pro with zero issues. I recently got the Mac Mini 2023 and this mouse disconnects several times a day. It's a USB-C mouse, plugged directly into the computer. When I unplug it and plug it back in, it works again. I don't want to use a Magic Mouse, I can't stand them. Is this a known issue or defect that a new Mac Mini might not have, or is this just how they all are? There are no Macally drivers I can install, it's supposed to be plug and play (and was with every other Mac I used).

I have not, I don't have that adapter, but my USB-A keyboard was doing the same thing, as was my USB-A wired mouse. I switched out to a higher quality USB-A keyboard and it hasn't disconnected once. Maybe it's the quality of the Macally mouse (it was pretty cheap), but I didn't have any issues before.

It could be static electricity. Years ago as a tech I had an entire lab of computers with mice and keyboards randomly cutting out with a second lab with the same equipment had no such problems. The sole difference between the two was the problem lab had carpet and the other was tiled. I wound up giving the instructor a spray bottle of diluted fabric softener to spray on the carpet each morning during the winter.
