I do not get sound alerts when I receive text messages. I used to get them, and I don't think that I changed anything. I'm running IOS 17.1.1. In Settings > Notifications > Messages, Allow Notifications is On and Sounds is Horn. I've tried other sounds, but they don't alert either. I do get the visual, red dot alert on my Messages icon in all cases. Is there anything else that may be stopping a sound alert?

You need to stop sharing the same Apple ID. It only leads to more trouble. Create a new Apple ID for her, then set the two of you up with Family Sharing so you can share content. Set up Family Sharing - Apple Support

By chance, do you wear Apple Watch?
No, but my wife does, and we share the same Apple ID. She’s out of town today, so I’ll see if she gets “my” alerts on her watch. Even so, why wouldn’t I get them on my iPhone?
Sorry, that seems to be a blind alley. My wife doesn't get alerts on her watch when texts are sent to me. Any other ideas?
