Hotspot not connecting to TV

I am trying to connect my iPhone to a Pioneer Xumo smart TV via the hotspot. It shows my iPhone and I select it as my network. I enter the network name and password and it shows it is connected to the TV but says there is no internet connection. I’ve tried setting it up manually with the same result.

Yes, I have an unlimited data plan. I do not have any cable or other internet service.

Any suggestions? Thank you.

If your TV does not have an option for using mobile data, it means that it lacks the necessary built-in functionality to directly connect to the internet using cellular data. As a result, you may encounter limitations when attempting to utilize the hotspot feature from your iPhone.

The hotspot feature on an iPhone allows you to share your mobile data connection with other devices, such as a TV, that can connect to the internet. However, this process typically requires the TV to support specific wireless connectivity options, such as Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, which enable it to establish a connection with the iPhone's hotspot.

In the absence of a mobile data option on your TV, the TV's connectivity capabilities might be limited to traditional methods, such as wired connections (e.g., Ethernet) or connecting to a Wi-Fi network.

On the TV or the display that you are streaming to.

Else Plug a Lightning Digital AV Adapter or Lightning to VGA Adapter into the charging port on the bottom of iPhone. Connect an HDMI or VGA cable to the adapter. Connect the other end of the HDMI or VGA cable to the monitor, TV, or projector. If necessary, switch to the correct video source on the monitor, TV, or projector.

I think it’s a Pioneer thing! It’s happening to me too. I bought both a TCL and Pioneer today, the TCL connects perfectly, the Pioneer refuses to connect to any hotspot I tried. I spent an hour trying and I about threw it out the window! 😂 I’ll be returning it for sure! Such a bummer because it was a great deal for a slightly bigger size than the TCL! 😩

AppleGirl84, I’m with you. I’ve ordered a different brand TV and will be returning this one when I pick it up. This time I made sure the TV had built-in WiFi along with the Bluetooth, AirPlay and screen mirroring. Same as you, new TV will be smaller than Pioneer. Guess you get what you pay for…

My TV is not listed, but it does specify it has mobile to TV, is Bluetooth compatible and uses Apple AirPlay and mirroring. I tried streaming MAC using the AirPlay and screen mirroring and neither brought up the image on my TV. The AirPlay is set to automatic. Is there anything I need to do prior to turning these on? I have the hotspot on as well. Thank you.

You have checked the Hotspot with another device.......iPad, computer, etc.....to make sure that it can connect, correct?

Performed the basics like powering off the TV, powering off the phone, powering the phone back up and then powering up the TV, correct?

Settings > Cellular > Personal Hotspot

If Maximize Compatibility is OFF, turn it ON. It is is ON, turn it OFF.
