FCPX 10.7 multiple crashes

Installed 10.7, created a new project in an existing library that had been updated. So far today 9 crashes but for different reasons including, dragging a clip onto the time line, opening a project, selecting a clip from the projects window, clicking on the audio inspector icon, clicking on the Colour Inspector icon, clicking on the information icon, trimming a clip in the timeline, importing a quicktime movie amongst others. Previously FCPX was quite stable.

Clips are all HD and 4K quicktime movies so no odd video formats and the project is identical to one I've created 122 times before (an ongoing TV show).

Currently running 13.6.1 which I have to until a 3rd party app that I use for 3D is properly updated. This app is separate to FCPX. Have an 8 core i9, 16 GB RAM, AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 4GB. Have 400GB left on the system SSD but edit from a fast GTech 4TB desktop drive.

So probably a buggy release that is optimised for Apple silicon not Intel but really should not be this unstable.

Has anyone else had issues and if so has anyone found a simple fix besides buying a new M3 Mac?

I am running 10.7 on an Intel MacBook Pro 16", exactly identical to yours. So far, no crashes. I have not yet done any heavy work on it yet, so maybe I have been lucky, or maybe there is something else in your system that is playing a part.

Please run Etrecheck and post its full report here. Use the "additional text" button and paste the report into the text box.

It's a 1080p 25fps ProRes 422 project with a mix of 4K interview footage and HD music videos and stock. Since I posted, the app crashed twice more with another odd thing happened. I was replacing a placeholder with an HD clip but would not work and adding the new clip not only replaced the selected placeholder but also the next 3 clips in the time line.

On EtreCheck just ran it and besides out of date Sony, Sugarsync, Disk Warrior and Elgato processes and files on the system, all fine and the report says performance is good. I don't want to publicly post the whole report on line though.

Ok since yesterday I think I've got an idea whats going on. Projects with newly imported clips are fine. Projects with old clips e.g. imported in the previous version of FCPX seem to be an issue. What seems to happen is that FCPX momentarily loses connection with clips and that causes the crash. If the project is set to Proxy media the crashing seems to stop. Could there be an issue with Indexing or can something be causing a delay linking to previously imported clips?

The libraries I'm using are on a fast external desktop HDD not the system drive. The new clips I'm importing are h264 quicktime . mov's in the same format as previous.

Also FCPX seemed to be learning as projects that crashed 15 or 20 times would start to become stable and I was able to export my TV show last night.
