NUMBERS APP NOT ALLOWING FILES TO BE AUTO-SAVED OR SAVED SINCE INSTALLING SONOMA

A Numbers file being worked on and stored on my desktop before Sonoma 14.1.1 now will not autosave or allow me to save. Says I am not authorized. Went to File>get info, and unlocked the padlock, still not allowing. Restarted with padlock left open, was locked when I did Get info again. Rarely use numbers, How do I fix?

This sounds like a permissions thing rather than a problem directly related to Numbers.

Not sure if this will solve your particular issue but recommend updating to macOS Sonoma 14.1.2 and trying again, making sure you are running Numbers 13.2.

If that doesn't work you could try repairing permissions with Disk Utility.

Opening the padlock does nothing if you don't modify the permissions as well. Make sure the correct users have read and write permissions. However it might only be the original user able to do that, which might not be you (computer user-speaking).

I believe that when you updated to Sonoma a different user was created, one that doesn't have write permissions on that file.

If that still doesn't work and trying to save under a new file name also doesn't work (hold Option when opening the File menu), you can create a new file to which you paste all sheets copied one by one from the original file.
