When I brought my phone I purposely brought it with 256GB of storage it’s been like that for like 2 years maybe but recently (I think after the 17.1.1 update) my 256gb of storage has halved and turned into 128gb. I’m not sure what’s happened but if there’s some way to fix it I would love to know cause I can’t find anything about the same issue!

Me too!! What model is your iPhone? Mine is a SE 2021 I think.
Go to settings - general - iPhone storage and see what it says there.
I did that already. That’s how I discovered it had changed. I did an OS update and now my phone is 128gb when it should be 256gb.
Same my phones an Iphone XR
Go to Settings > General > About > and post the model number you see, which will appear as something like MU6E3LL/A
Post back with that number.

Then you were mistaken as that is a 128GB model iPhone. The phone simply couldn't magically become a different model at some point. Not possible.
You’re right. I checked the order confirmation email from 2021 and I did buy the 128gb. ****!!!
