Film on Macbook screen peeling off

There is a chance that the display shipped with a plastic screen protector from the factory since it is common for Apple to have them on their replacement parts in order to protect the screen from damage during shipping. Normally this plastic protector is removed at the factory or by the service tech once the repair has been completed. We really cannot say for sure since we cannot see it for ourselves.

The normal Apple screen is unlikely to peel away as a layer, but it is possible the adhesive backing on a third party screen protector could damage the anti-reflective coating on the screen (it would only leave marks on the glass, it would not be a separate layer of plastic as you are describing).

Sorry but your applied screen protector is damaging the original screen coating. This demonstrates why third party screen protectors should not be used.

It could be possible it might be original screen coating.

It is possible that you damaged the screen coating while removing your screen protector I am afraid

Try with a damp lint-free cloth to clean the screen at the corner very carefully.
