My iPhone isn't functioning and I want to make a phone call from my computer without use of my iPhone, over WiFi. I cannot use my phone carrier. I am trying contact repair places. Is there any way to do this, and why not, if there isn't?

I am desperate for help. My iPhone 13 Pro just went into a boot loop in the middle of the night (while I wasn't doing anything with it, I was asleep). I awoke and suddenly my iPhone was impossible to use. I have no way to do 2 Factor Authentication on my other devices, so I am locked out of most of my accounts. I can't restore my iPhone because not all the data is backed up in iCloud. I already checked. I need that data and I had no reason to think my iPhone would fail out of the blue, in the middle of the night. It is fully updated, and I think the last update caused the crash.

Now the problem is that I can't contact anyone I need to, just to even start to get help for the repair. I can't email because I don't have access to my email. I started a new email so I can have one to use in the meantime. I can't call anyone, because all the apps I can find on the computer want to go through my iPhone, which means I cannot use them.

I need to handle this problem in a timely manner. Phone calls would be ideal, but I don't know why I can find no way at all to call someone on my computer using WiFi without using my iPhone. This seems like it MUST be a solvable problem. I just have no idea how to do it. I am locked out of most of my accounts.

iPhone 13 Pro, iOS 17

Let's focus on finding a solution. To clarify, you're seeking a method to make phone calls from your computer over Wi-Fi without relying on your iPhone or phone carrier. There are a few potential avenues to explore:

  1. You can use Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services like Skype, Google Voice, or Zoom to make calls from your computer. These services allow you to dial phone numbers directly from your computer using an internet connection. You'll need to set up an account and possibly add credit or a subscription for making calls to regular phone numbers.
  2. There are web-based calling apps like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, or Viber that let you make calls from your computer. You can access them through their respective websites and make calls to phone numbers or contacts.
  3. Some email service providers, such as Gmail, offer the ability to make phone calls from your computer within their interface. This might require adding credit to your account.

If you're locked out of most accounts, accessing these services might be challenging, especially if they're tied to two-factor authentication. However, creating new accounts or seeking temporary access to any alternate email addresses or contact numbers you might have provided for account recovery could be a potential avenue to explore.

Since you mentioned starting a new email, have you considered using this email to contact repair centers or service providers directly? Explain your situation and see if they have alternate methods for contact or support.

Regarding your iPhone issue, if you suspect the recent update caused the crash, it might be worth noting this when seeking assistance from Apple support or an authorized repair center.

I don't live in the city. I am in the country and I live alone. Borrowing a phone is not an option for me. I work online and and I need to have a functional way to contact people immediately. I am looking for a way to use my computer to make a call. If this problem persists then yes, eventually anything is possible, but I would like a solution to the problem at hand not a way around it.

I do have Zoom and Skype! Thank you!! This is exactly the kind of answer I needed. I honestly don't know which apps go through my phone in some way and which do not. I use Zoom on my phone almost exclusively and I haven't used Skype in years, but just knowing they can make a phone call without use of my phone is exactly what I needed!! Thank you very much!! (Now I just hope I can sign in to Zoom, or else I will have to start another account.)
