Basically, they do not work together if there is a YouTube video that appears as an ad at the beginning of the article. Somehow, the placement of the video causes the omission of any of the text that would normally be seen under the video. The result is that I do not get to read the article at all. It's been this way for over a year. I'm surprised and disappointed it's not been dealt with yet.

Thanks for catching this. I've had this issue with Rolling Stone too but didnt realize it was connected to an embedded video. It's super annoying. I've tried reporting it in Apple News but there's not a great mechanism for describing the issue
As far as I know, access to all Rolling Stone content is included with a News+ subscription. I’ve surfed to the web version of RS articles which include text that doesn’t appear in the Apple News version when there is a YouTube video inserted at the beginning of a piece.
I'm not sure this venue is any better as it's still not fixed.
Wait, so when I see an article that appears to be abridged that’s a bug? I assumed that News+ just didn’t get the full magazine.
