MacBook Pro slow after upgrade to Sonoma

Multiple MacBook Pro are getting extremely slow (to the point of making the system unusable) after not being restarted for one or two days. In one second they are working just fine and then suddenly they practically freeze.

While checking the memory and cpu for all users, none of those laptops are actually using too much memory or CPU, disks are at least 50% free and not much write/read activity going on.

The issue seems to be happening to both M1 and Intel MacBooks. So far, out of 70 users, 5 users are having the exact same issue.

Is anyone facing the same issue?

I have a M1 MacBook Pro and a M1 iMac and I do not regognize the issue. Are you sure that the issue is not caused by an external piece of software? You can try and boot the Macs in the safe mode to see if the issues persist. If they don't persist in the safe mode they're caused by an external piece of software.

The steps for booting in the safe mode differ if you have a Mac with apple silicon or an Intel Mac:

Start up your Mac with Apple silicon in safe mode

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Shut Down.
  2. Wait for your Mac to shut down completely. A Mac is completely shut down when the screen is black and any lights (including in the Touch Bar) are off.
  3. Press and hold the power button on your Mac until “Loading startup options” appears.
  4. Select a volume.
  5. Press and hold the Shift key, then click Continue in Safe Mode.
  6. The computer restarts automatically. When the login window appears, you should see “Safe Boot” in the menu bar.

Start up your Intel-based Mac in safe mode

  1. Turn on or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key until you see the login window.
  2. Log in to your Mac.
  3. You might be asked to log in again.
  4. On either the first or second login window, you should see “Safe Boot” in the menu bar.

Sounds like a Networking issue, not a Mac or macOS issue.

>System Setting>Network make some changes

Advanced>delete any known Networks that are not current

compare and contrast Network settings on known functioning Macs within your organization for a clue.
