iMovie not showing Music library

I have used iMovie for years and have regularly incorporated music from my iTunes now known as Music. Now my Music library is not showing up. iMovie appears to be pointed at an "Unknown Album" (see image). I have my Music library in the cloud, but research indicates that should not be a problem. Is there some way to re-direct iMovie to my Music library?

Thank you, but new issue. I downloaded a couple songs to my firewire-connected external drive, e.g. /G-DRIVE PRO/Music/Music/Compilations/Classic Christmas Greatest Hits/12 A Holly Jolly Christmas.m4a. The Music application works just file with songs on the external G-Drive - I don't have room to store lots of gigabytes on my Macintosh HD. Unfortunately the songs are NOT showing up in iMovie even though I deleted and reinstalled the application. I fear you are going to tell me that iMovie will only link up to Music if the songs are stored on my Macintosh HD? That will create a storage problem for me.

Hi,

The iTunes songs won't show on your hard drive or in iMovie until you download them from the cloud. Open your iTunes library from the iTunes website. All songs that have a little cloud icon next to them are in the cloud. Click on the cloud icon to download the song. Try it with a couple of songs and see if that cures the issue.

Update - Music now appearing in iMovies. I downloaded from cloud to external (G:) drive, directed Music to G:Drive, then ran "import" in Music, now all appearing in iMovies. Thank you Rich839 for your help. Turns out there was no need to put on MacHD, the external drive is sufficient.
