How to get 5 apps in the dock

Yesterday I received my new Apple iPhone and I’m so excited! I’ve been using Samsung phones for the past many years and have been able to have 5 apps in the doc and would like to same on my new iPhone. When I press, hold and drag the 5th app to the doc, it won’t stay in the dock. How can I get a 5th app in the dock? TIA
