Assistive Access what happens to incoming calls not on the list, like doctor

I want to get my dad an iPhone and then set up the Assistive Access so its simple for him to use. But what happens if someone not on his approved contacts list calls, like a doctor's scheduler? I still want those calls to go someplace so we know to call them back....

This is such a good idea, but it's really disappointing how limited the documentation and features are for this.

I personally know a lot of people who are interested in this feature, but the most basic functionality (returning a missed call) isn't even documented anywhere.

It does say that you can set it up to accept calls from anyone: Understand certain differences in Assistive Access on iPhone - Apple Support (HK) (which I had noticed), but there's no info on what missed calls look like.

I just tried playing around with Assistive Access to see what happens. If you enable notifications, see Change Assistive Access settings on iPhone - Apple Support, you will see a notification if someone leaves a voicemail in Assistive Access, see picture below (there's no screenshot capability in Assistive Access, so I had to resort to the good old screen photo):

If the contact isn't approved, you won't be able to act on the notification or hear the voicemail. I didn't see a notification for missed calls without voicemail. In either case, you can see missed calls and voicemails in the normal Phone app when you exit Assistive Access. It's pretty easy to switch: triple click and use your Assistive Access passcode.

If you are looking for how to enable Voicemail while on assistive access, you are OUT of LUCK. I spent 30-40 mins with apple support until they finally told me engineers are working on it. The more that request feature, the sooner we might see it! Not having voice mail seems like such a needed feature. My mother in-law has requested to turn off Assistive access because of this, along with not seeing “Recent Calls”.
