How to disable group messages

When I updated to IOS 17 on my iPhone 14 Pro, I noticed that I could not disable Group text. I am very upset that this feature is not as easily accessible as before. I should not have to search for it!!! How do you disable this feature? I really do not like the IOS 17 feature. It's horrible and there are many changes that need to be made.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Not true. Before iOS 17, there was switch in the Messages settings labeled “Group Messaging”. When you turned that off and sent a group message (that could include iPhone and non-iPhone numbers), each recipient would only see the sender’s number and not the numbers of everyone else. In iOS 17, that switch is gone and you can no longer send bcc (blind carbon copy) group text messages.

In earlier versions of iOS, specifically prior to iOS 17, there was no built-in functionality to disable group messaging across various platforms such as Group iMessage, Group SMS, or Group MMS. This absence of a feature wasn't unique to iOS 17 or later updates; rather, it was a consistent limitation in the previous iOS iterations.

The inability to prevent or opt-out of group messages was a constant characteristic of iOS versions preceding iOS 17. Therefore, any difficulties or inability to disable group messaging should not be attributed solely to the changes introduced in iOS 17 or its subsequent updates. Instead, it's a historical lack of that specific feature across earlier iOS versions as well.
