iPhone XR is not receiving group texts until much later

I am in a group chat with my coworkers on an iPhone XR running iOS 17.1.1 . A mix of iPhone and Android users. Twice now I have received an influx of texts from the chat that were supposedly all sent at the same time when I know that was not the case and the conversation happened earlier. I am not sure how long it took to work each time. I was able to send and even react to messages after the 2nd time but could not initally reply when the chat was created. iMessage is turned on, MMS messaging is on, Send as SMS is on, Always Deliver Inmediately is on. Did not seem to be a problem with anyone else in the group chat. My carrier is TELUS and it does not provide the toggle to enable or disable Group Messaging. Not sure what is causing this and would appreciate a solution. If there is anything else I can provide to possibly help please let me know. Thanks!
