Screen sharing in high performance mode inconsistent - grey screen at times
In Sonoma, there is a new screen sharing mode that works between two Apple Silicon machines. I have an M1 MacBook Pro and an M1 Mac Studio. When you initiate a screen sharing session, it gives you the option of high performance mode (or normal). HP mode is great because it creates a new screen just for screen sharing. Since I have two monitors on the Mac Studio, normal mode allows for me to see both screens at once on my laptop (which is tricky because it is much smaller). You can select one or the other screen which is fine but you can only see one screen at at time. In High Performance mode, it looks like you are essentially creating a virtual monitor and all your apps / windows are available in that monitor (without having to swap screens).
At any rate, when it works, it is an excellent function. With a good network, it's very close to the experience of being at the computer. Very little lag, full color, full resolution matched to the client computer (the laptop I'm using to initiate the screenshare). It's like my laptop is now functioning as my Mac Studio.
Now, the problems. Occasionally, when I log in to screen sharing (the usual way), it gives me the dialogue which allows the choice of High Performance or Normal mode. When I log into SS from my laptop, using high performance mode, it will often give me a grey screen (though the cursor is visible). I can't see anything on the screen, but I do know that my mouse is moving around on the MacStudio. So I'm controlling the computer but cannot view the screen.
At any rate, anyone having this issue? If so, how do we fix it?
I'm running the latest versions of Sonoma on both computers 14.1.1
