I have a MacBook Air. I also have hundreds of CDs, I would like to copy some of my CDs onto my lap top which has no CD drive, could someone please explain in very simple terms what I need to buy to enable me to transfer music from a CD onto my laptop? I am a total novice with computers, and not very tech savvy! Thanks
MacBook Air (2018 – 2020)
Once you have a CD drive connected directly to your Mac (either an Apple Super drive or a generic drive) open the Music app. Insert the music CD in the drive then the app will ask if you want to import the music on the CD. Hit yes and the process will start.
You'll need an external CD player. I reccommend one with an USB C connection if you have a newer MacBook without usb a ports. CD players tend to use some power from your MacBook and this can prove difficult if you're in need of using a dock.
If you have an older MacBook with USB A (normal) usb ports, I reccommend a player with that conenction
