How do I Split an MP3 file into Tracks on Mac?

I am seeking guidance on how to separate an MP3 file into individual tracks on my Mac. Essentially, I am looking for a way to divide the MP3 file into multiple smaller files, each representing a distinct track. I am open to using different software or tools, as long as they are compatible with Mac operating systems.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how i can split an MP3 file into tracks on Mac? Thank you in advance for your help.

You can find a couple of popular audio editing and cutting software from this review, a latest one from 2023.

Taking Adobe Audition for example, you can easily split an MP3 file into multiple tracks. First, open the MP3 file in Adobe Audition.

Then, use the 'Waveform Editor' to visually navigate through the audio file. You can identify the different tracks or sections by looking at the waveform and listening to the file.

Once you've identified the boundaries of each track, you can use the 'Split' tool or the 'Razor' tool to cut the file at these points. After splitting the file, select each individual section and export it as a separate MP3 file using the 'File > Export > File...' option.

Adobe Audition provides a robust set of tools for precise editing and adjustments, making it a great choice for more advanced users.

Hi Jenney,

if you want to do it only using Music, below are the steps.

  1. Right-click the full track, Get Info, Options tab, and set the Start and Stop times for the sub-track you are trying to separate.
  2. Highlight the track in your library, then File > Convert > Create MP3 Version.

This will create a new track with just the section you chose. You can now go back to the full track and set new Start and Stop times for the next sub-track, or go back to the defaults if you are done.

(Make a backup copy of the full MP3 before you start, just in case.)

(At step 2, if you see "Create AAC Version" instead of "Create MP3 Version," adjust in the Import settings.)
