Hide My Email is not working

I do have an iCloud+ subscription, and I can generate proxy email addresses manually in System Settings. That part works.

But in Safari, clicking on email fields gives me nothing. Apple Support says clicking should give me an option to choose Hide My Email. But when I do that, nothing happens. No option appears. I've tried numerous websites, with no success on any of them.

I must be missing a setting somewhere?
