Problem with phone calls on iPhone 7

I’ve recently started experiencing issues with phone calls on my iPhone 7 running iOS 15.7.

First noticed it on WhatsApp, couldn’t make any phone calls, all I got what a pop-up that said “Unable to initiate call, please try again.”

Then I found out that I couldn’t even place regular phone calls. It would first be in “connecting…” for a while with no rings, and after it would finally connect, no sound would be heard on either ends. And it doesn’t let me put the phone into speaker mode.

Checked all of my settings, restarted the phone and my router multiple times, but to no avail. The phone doesn’t have any technical damage either, audio works just fine when I go and watch YouTube. Then problem only comes up when placing calls.

Does anyone know that problem behind this? And is there any solution to this!

Troubleshooting - iPhone 7

1.

Remove and reinsert the SIM card.

If it doesn't help visit your carrier, maybe the SIM card is damaged, ask for a replaced (new) card. Normally it is free.

Ask also to check if the SIM tray is bent, as even a tiny misalignment can cause the SIM card to not fully connect with the internal contacts in your iPhone.

iPhone 7 is > 7 years old, which also affects the battery life. The hardware remains old, so does the battery.

If it is still possible, have the battery replaced.

The battery can be replaced by Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

See this Apple article: iPhone Battery Repair & Replacement - Apple Support

If you are going to replace the battery, see -> Get your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch ready for service

Get your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch ready for service - Apple Support

The price is approx $ 69.

If you want to know exactly, call Apple directly, see Contact Apple for support and service -> Contact Apple for support and service – Apple Support (UK)

or

call 1-800-MY-APPLE

note:

You have to decide for yourself whether it is still worth having the battery replaced.
