Photo albums not showing when uploading to safari

When I go to upload photos to a website (Etsy for example) I only get the option of "photos" and not the individual albums. I have Sonoma 14.1.1.

The only workaround I have seen suggested is to copy the album onto the desktop and access it from there, but we are talking 1000's of photos and they are only visible as tiny thumbnails, I need full screen definition to be able to choose correctly.

Is there a solution, will this be fixed?

You're hardly alone. Oddly, if you use Mail, you can see albums. It may be that services just haven't updated their websites to the new protocols. I'm beginning to suspect that it ain't going to happen.

I'm running Ventura, by the way, and I haven't heard new complaints about Sonoma changing the way the search works.

Still, I don't get why keywords work for me and not for you. Have you tried re-booting, lately?

It could also be the Library itself, if this has been carried over from a previous system. You could create a small test Library with a few pictures in it and see if the same thing happens.

You can also boot into Safe Mode-- I do that from time to time when I see something odd. Instructions are here:

Good luck, and let me know what happens...

So here is also another issue, not only are my albums not visible, but when I go to "photos "to choose which images to upload they aren't even in any chronological order, and there is no way to rearrange them? In my actual photos they are all in order of when they were taken. I have attached an example, and how I need them to all be together. You can see clearly how the green lights are all mixed in with other images...any reason why that might be? Or how to resolve it? Thx

There is currently no help for it. Safari on Sonoma does not show the albums in the Media browser.

As a work-around - keep Photos open to select the photo you want to upload. Then copy the filename from the photo and search for this filename when you are uploading photos from Safari. Or save the selected photo to the Desktop, then upload it from there. But use the Photos.app to find the photos you want to share.

Thank you Richard, I did try that but am clearly doing something wrong? I chose my selection of photos (within photos) and clicked "i" and then tried to add a keyword, ETSYNOV2023 and it said that it had applied it to all of my selection, but when I go to browse them in upload on Safari I still only get "photos" as a choice, and entering the keyword into the search box brings back nothing? Any ideas? thx

Your screenshot looks right to me.

Your original post says  "macOS 10.15" which is Catalina. Is this accurate? The business of not showing albums in the upload routine started with Ventura (macOS 13), I think.

It's odd to me that you said, "and it said that it had applied it to all of my selection" That doesn't happen for me-- when I select 60 pictures and open Info and add a keyword, it just appears in the keyword field with no response.

If keyword doesn't work for some reason, then I'd try putting "ETSYNOV2023" in the caption or the title to see if that works for you.

Hi, no I have just bought a new mac, and now have Sooma 14.1.1, (I will try to update that info), so this is a new issue on a new macbook. I think you can select the "info" for multiple images, and add a keyword to the entire selection, I got it to add to 356 images at once? But I have also tried the caption and the title as well, and still nothing comes up in the search results...

It is driving me mad! Would you know if they are even working on a fix, as I cannot believe I am the only one who regularly used the album search facility? Thx

Gosh, you ask hard questions! (I hope that comes off friendly) I think that the images appear in the order they were added to Photos, so that the most recent ones are first. This is a great idea--the ones you upload last are the ones you're most likely to need--unless you add a bunch of pictures in mass, and then the order that Photos uploads them is pretty random within that group. This should be the same order you see in the Recents folder.
