Texting Through Wrong Line When Using Dual SIM

I recently updated to the latest os (17.1.1). After this was complete I am unable to text business contacts through my business line, it always sends the text via iMessage on my personal line. I have reassigned the contact to use only my business line and not my personal line, but it switches by itself. This is becoming an issue, as several clients that I do not want having my personal number now have it. This was working perfectly until this os update.

Any tricks to help me undo Apple's software glitch would be great!

Thanks!

Updating iOS on your iPhone should typically not alter the fundamental functionality of the device. It's possible that there were underlying issues before this update, which you might not have been aware of previously or might not have noticed.

In general, iOS updates are designed to enhance the user experience, improve security, and fix bugs, rather than introducing major disruptions to core features. The reported issue of the screen flickering and displaying a white screen after an update is likely caused by factors that are not explicitly mentioned in your post.

iOS updates primarily focus on improving system performance, introducing new features, fixing bugs, and enhancing security. They are designed to preserve your personal data, settings, and information intact.

During an iOS update, your device's operating system is upgraded, but your personal data, such as contacts, photos, messages, and other information, should remain unchanged. However, it's always a good practice to perform a backup of your device before any major update to ensure that your data is safely stored.

It's important to note that while an iOS update itself should not alter personal details, it's possible that certain features or settings may be adjusted or improved with the update. In such cases, you may need to review and adjust specific settings to match your preferences after the update.

Always make sure to read and understand the update details provided by Apple before proceeding with an iOS update, and follow best practices such as backing up your device to minimize any potential risks or complications.

SravanKrA, thanks for the reply, you are correct, the update did not change any personal settings or any of my specific directions on what line to use when calling and texting. But the phone was not following the directions that were clearly setup in the settings for each contact.

To recap if, my business line can receive calls and texts, as well as make calls no problem. When replying to a text message the phone would flip my response to an iMessage and use my personal number to reply.

After some further sleuthing, I discovered that any of my business contacts that were on Apple were getting my text responses forced to iMessage on my personal number, no matter if I had them set to always use my business line. Any business contacts that are on Android were still receiving regular SMS messages, obviously.

One fix I found was allowing both lines to utilize iMessage. This wasn't an option when I fist started using the dual SIM capabilities a few years back. Nice to see that change, whenever it happened, probably a while ago lol. I found this in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. I selected both phone numbers to utilize iMessage and it fixed the issue.

Thanks and I hope this maybe helps anyone else who stumbles into this issue.
