Why are my Email Folders not in alphabetical order?

At some point a couple of years ago, new mail folders in the left side bar showed up after the folders starting with "z" and are not in any real order. The original mail folders are still in alphabetical order but any new files show up after Z and not in any order and they move at times from being at the bottom to elsewhere, but not in the original A-Z sorting. When I want to move a message to folder, the drop down menu in the upper right hand corner is in complete alphabetical order, not the jumbled mess in the left hand tool bar. When I log into Gmail everything is in proper order. I tried dis-enabling the account, shutting down mail and the re-opening and re-enabling, but that did solve it. It's a real mess.

Well, if you're like me, you constantly add folders, as I'm always dealing with new projects, vendors, etc. Apple's default behavior is annoying, and not having an easy way to change it is even more annoying.

Hi Luis, do you work for Apple or just a user. I actually have a LOT of folders and it is truly a pain to get them in alphabetical order on my phone--the dragging and dropping always seems to go somewhere other than where I tried to put it. It's a little easier on my iPad, but I would think it wouldn't be that difficult to add code to give people an option on what they want to set as a default. Seriously, options are so important. There is no one solution for something like this.

Mail folders, by default are placed in the order they are created, not in alphabetical order.

I am glad that it works like this, because I can organize them in an order that is most relevant for my use. You can, too. After all, we don't create that many folders. If you want them in alphabetical order, just drag them into place, and they will remain like that.
