Use Control Center on Apple Watch describes how to access the Control Center after installing watchOS 10.

Open or close Control Center

  • Open Control Center: Press the side button once.
  • Close Control Center: With Control Center open, turn your wrist away from you or press the side button again.

Press the side button

  • Press to show or hide Control Center.
  • Press and hold to use Emergency SOS.
  • Double-click to use Apple Pay.
  • Press and hold to turn your watch on or off.

If you have Apple Watch Ultra or later, you can customize the Action button to access your favorite features quickly.

Thank you that’s helps, but why would they change it in the first place? Much easier the “old” way.

We are just users like you.

I would speculate that all the less advanced users that got confused when accidentally an unintended swipe happened and they did not know how to undo the change.

I’m sure Apple did not anticipate the huge outcry this change caused.

I agree, the way the buttons worked before 10.1.1 was much better. Is there a way to go back to the previous version of the software?

You cannot go back. And that is a failing strategy, as eventually watchOS 9 will no longer be compatible with newer iPhones and iPhone iOS versions.

You can send Apple your feedback and tell them the changes you would like to see via

The more users that send feedback, the more likely it will reach a decision maker.
