Use Control Center on Apple Watch describes how to access the Control Center after installing watchOS 10.
Open or close Control Center
Press the side button
If you have Apple Watch Ultra or later, you can customize the Action button to access your favorite features quickly.

Thank you that’s helps, but why would they change it in the first place? Much easier the “old” way.
We are just users like you.
I would speculate that all the less advanced users that got confused when accidentally an unintended swipe happened and they did not know how to undo the change.
I’m sure Apple did not anticipate the huge outcry this change caused.
You should tell Apple your feelings via

I agree, the way the buttons worked before 10.1.1 was much better. Is there a way to go back to the previous version of the software?

You cannot go back. And that is a failing strategy, as eventually watchOS 9 will no longer be compatible with newer iPhones and iPhone iOS versions.
You can send Apple your feedback and tell them the changes you would like to see via

The more users that send feedback, the more likely it will reach a decision maker.
I agree Bob. Why? I didn’t realize how reliant I was on that for finding my phone in the flashlight in the morning until I couldn’t find it. lol. Oh well, I’m sure it’ll switch back someday without warning.

How do you make sure apps are cleared, on 10.1.1.
Double click the Crown, and swipe left on the apps you want to "clear."
Thank you!
You are welcome.

How do you make sure apps are cleared, on 10.1.1. I know before the update if you had apps open you can clear them. Not seeing that with the new buttons.
