Can a game app put a virus on my iPhone?

I have an iPhone 11 and I was playing the solitaire mobility ware game (which I downloaded from the App Store). This game usually has pop up ads that I never click on, but somehow as I was playing the game one of the pop up adds opened up safari and took me to an amazon rewards site on safari saying that I won something. I quickly went and cleared my website data and closed all tabs, but now I am concerned that my phone has been hacked or has a virus. Is this possible?
