Apple store online dropped the official apple adapter, but they still sell this one:

The 2017 MacBook Air does not have a USB-C port, so you'll have to use an adapter. Apple doesn't sell an official USB-A (male) to USB-C (female) cable or adapter, but I have a few cheap ones from online that work just fine.

My bad! Apologies. I saw Thunderbolt on the 2017 MacBook Air, but it didn't register that it's Thunderbolt 2, not 3. Yes, an adapter will be needed.
Both the 2017 MacBook Air and iPhone 15 devices have USB C ports. All you should need is this cable from Apple: USB C Cable
