Unwanted voicemail message

I have voicemail switched but since 17.1.1 update I now have a solid green dot on my phone icon and a solid red dot on the voicemail symbol. When I click on the red dot the following message appears Network Provider Voicemail. The only option is ‘call’ which then tells you you have no new messages and no saved messages ! There is no option to get rid of this message. Any help to resolve this will be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for replying. I had spent over 2 hours talking to them without success. They are ringing me back today after they research the issue. They seemed to think it was an Apple bug. However I actually solved it myself by re instating the voicemail facility, ringing my number from a different phone, leaving a message, then listening to the message. The green and red dots disappeared as did the Network Provider message . I have now switched off the voicemail facility again and am happy.
