iPad 8th Gen won't go into recovery mode

When I plug the iPad into my computer and hold the home button and the lock button, the iPad starts up and then briefly flashes the recovery icon but then it shuts down completely. I contacted Apple support and their solution was to send it in, but given the age of the device that cost isn't really justifiable. I'm hoping there is some other solution.

iPad Pro recovers into recovery mode My iPad is stuck in recovery mode after trying to update it, whenever I plug in it to my laptop it either fails to recover or rarely succeeds, when it does succeed finder says it will restart and show up when its done, when it does restart its back in recovery mode.

I too have an eighth generation iPad and have the exact same problem!! you solved?
