How do I stop the cursor from jumping to new location while typing?

I'm running MACOS Sonoma 14.2 on a MacBook Air M1, 2020 (Apple M1 chip)

When I'm typing in an App e.g. Teams, Onenote, WhatsApp or even Safari the cursor jumps to a new location so that the typing stops and I just hear a pinging noise. I have to use the trackpad, mouse or enter key to return the cursor to where it should be.

I've tried the SafeBoot approach but it seems I'm having to do that daily so something is wrong somewhere!

Any ideas how this can be fixed properly anyone?

TIA

Maybe you are touching the track pad as you are typing. If so, change your hand positions while typing.
