I am not able to downgrade my iCloud storage to the free 5GB on my iPhone

I couldn't downgrade from the 2TB plan either. Ended up downgrading to the 50gb plan first and went through all the steps.

Once that was showing up as my current plan, I went back in and was able to select the free plan. Apple makes it extremely difficult to leave their ecosystem.

Are you an Apple One subscriber?

There's iCloud+ storage that you subscribe to on its own, and iCloud storage that you get if you subscribe to Apple One. If you are a subscriber to one of the Apple One plans, then you can't cancel just the basic amount of iCloud+ storage included in it by itself.

Also, if you are part of a Family Sharing arrangement, you may be sharing iCloud+ storage paid for by the Family Organizer.

The downgrade won't take effect until the end of the current billing cycle. If that doesn't explain it or you can't wait, contact Apple Support as described in the Related Article above.

The free 5GB are default for you to use, if you want more space then yes you have choose. So you should contact the Apple Support and ask to cancel your paid iCloud subscription

Is your iCloud subscription listed among your subscriptions in Settings>your name (Apple ID)>Subscriptions?

Just disabled autopay amount to apple. It will automatically downgrade to free i.e., 5GB.

Properly Downgrade iCloud:

1. Download All of iCloud, First:

2. Downgrade your iCloud Plan:

If you want to get less storage in iCloud, downgrading your iCloud plan is the way to go. Note that this has a monthly fee. Here is the link to user: iCloud+ Plans and Pricing - Apple Support. Note that this service is not available in all countries/regions.

Same problem here. You think a billion dollar company can’t get a “downgrade” button to work? This has to be deliberate, just to make it difficult to stop giving them money. Corporate greed at its finest and most obvious.

Is there not an option for none? Or are you saying when you choose that it won’t let you do it?
