Can I mirror screen from my Iphone11 to my Macbook Air 2017?

I updated both to the latest software update, they're both on the same wifi and they're even connected by the same icloud account, but my macbook still doesn't show up on the list for screen mirroring so I'm not sure if it's possible

Screen mirroring an iPhone to macbook with external displays I use a Macbook Air M1, with an additional monitor from BenQ. When I use screen mirroring on my iPhone to my Macbook, the screen mirroring takes up both displays with only a button to close it, and a button to select which display to use. I would like to open the screen mirroring on just 1 monitor while I free up the other display (either monitor or the macbook screen). Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Unfortunately your Mac is too old to support this. See here: System requirements for Continuity features on Apple devices - Apple Support

The section “AirPlay to Mac” indicates you need a Mac from 2018 or newer.
