Red arrow appearing

I have this red arrow appearing on my new macbook, it was not there ahead of the latest update. Since updating to Sonoma 14.1 its appeared and will not go away. I do use this macbook for work along with a Apple Thunderbolt Display, and switch between multiple screens. It usually appears if I am typing and is pointing to the area. How do I get it to stop? Is this a feature I'm unaware of?

I am having the same red arrow issue. It first appeared after installing Sonoma 14.1.1. Sure would like to find a way to get rid of it as I also can not figure out what its purpose is ... other than to be annoying ;-) TIA for any help!

I can't find anything that explains what this red arrow is and it's driving be INSANE.

I'm running Sonoma 14.2.1 on a 16" MacBook Pro (2023 M2 Max). Please tell me what this is for and how to either use it or lose it.

EDIT: I also just noticed this was in the "Air" community and I'm taking about a MacBook Pro, but it was what popped up when searching the problem in Google. Apologies if it's an issue.

The world spins. I'm just hanging on.

I have not tried Safe Mode ... what would that do for this issue?
The issue came up after my latest OS update (Sonoma 14.1.1).
I do not find 14.2.1 when I checked for new OS updates??

Here's an Apple Support article that explains what Safe Mode does: Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Here's how to boot into Safe Mode: Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support. Note that you'll want to be patient here, as it takes about 5-10 minutes as it checks everything in this mode.

Why Sonoma 14.2.1 doesn't appear is a mystery to me. It SHOULD be available by going to System Settings-->General-->Software Update. (Note that your current MacOS version would also be displayed here).

Although I'm using a MacBook Air, I don't think 14.2.1 is specific to that model.

Have you tried booting into Safe Mode to see if the red arrow is gone?

I'd suspect it's an application you've installed. Did you look at Systems Settings-->Login Items?

Also, you stated in your original post you're running MacOS 14.1. Have you tried updating to 14.2.1 to see if anything changes?
