Whatsapp download MacBook

I'm trying to download WhatsApp on my MacBook Air (I have 40 GB available) and I can't download WhatsApp. I've tried downloading from the App Store and from the website but nothing works. What seems to be the issue? Thanks in advance!

FWIW, 40GB is very little available space, even for a 256GB drive. I would try and clear some space and try again.
