How to disable auto-punctuation in Ventura?

I'm dependent on Dictation for typing and I really appreciate spell check, but I'm at a loss for words to describe how useless (and very annoying) auto punctuation is in Ventura.

Is there some way to disable this, without disabling spellcheck? There is in iOS, but I can't find a solution in Ventura.

The illogical, random insertion of full stops, commas and apostrophes causes dictation to take twice as long as before due to all the corrections required.

I'm using Sonoma but, here you go:

The only thing, other than the missing "Auto-punctuation" switch seems to be our regions. I'm using U.S. English. It appears that, for me to turn on U.S. English, I'd have to mess with a lot of settings. But, the option doesn't disappear when I add UK English.

I also have the Input menu turned off though I can't imagine that would make a difference.

Thanks Idris – yes, I'm aware of it - it's what I've always relied on, and want to get back to!

Re original problem, the plot thickens. Today the elusive option to turn off auto punctuation spontaneously appeared. (I compared screen grabs to make sure I wasn't imagining things). There is no logical explanation for this since I hadn't touched Settings again since yesterday. So hooray, I turned it off - only to have dictation stop working altogether, and not come back on if I turned auto punctuation back on again. After rebooting, I spent the afternoon with intermittent access to Dictation. It would literally work one minute but not the next, or would ding, show the 'speech bubble' but not actually type anything.

All very frustrating.
