I only periodically go through the "Library" to delete or add items to an "Album". Once they are in an "Album", it would be nice if I had the option to make such items invisible so I can more easily deal with the items not within an "Album".

You may want to use a smart album with all photos, that are not yet in an album:

No, but you can create a smart album on your Mac to find any item not in an album (album is not any)

Many thanks for your reply, Leonie. I will give this a try and see what happens. Perhaps it will pick up the photos already in the library but not yet associated with an album.
Leonie, I just tried your suggestion. It immediately found and added several items to the smart library. Many thanks for your suggestion. I think this solution will remedy my issue.
