i gave my phone to my child to use to keep them occupied and during this time they’d purchased two new apps, after seeing the receipts in my email that same day.. I immediately searched up how to reverse these purchases.. will apple refund me?

You can try to ask refund.
If you have received an invoice from Apple, on every invoice from the Apple Store and/or iTunes Store always states what you have purchased (and/or concerns a subscription) and the amount.
Tap on Report a problem on the invoice.
