"hey Siri" interactions are quite annoying lately

I have to shout "hey Siri" even three times to ask something. The homepod mini light turns on, then suddenly turns off and my iPhone 13 shows Siri animation in the screen but then disappears. Happens with my iPhone, with AirPods and with the Homepod mini

It started happening after *OS17 update...

Hello matheo_s,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Try the following section from Set up voice recognition on HomePod or HomePod mini - Apple Support which may help with Siri on both the iPhone and HomePod mini.

"If Siri doesn't recognize you

Siri might ask you who you are from time to time. You can respond with your name, or you can even begin a request by saying "Hey Siri, this is [your name]" or "Hey Siri, who am I?" If Siri calls you the wrong name, say "No, this is [your name]." Siri calls you by the name that you have set in your My Card. If you have the same name as someone else sharing your HomePod, you can change the name in your My Card to a nickname.

If Siri doesn't recognize you after setup, try these steps. After each step, see if Siri recognizes you.

  1. Make sure you turned on iCloud for Siri on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Reset Recognize My Voice. In the Home app, tap the More button , then tap Home Settings. Tap your name under People, then turn Recognize My Voice off then on. Wait a few minutes before trying Siri again.
  3. Restart the iPhone or iPad that you use with "Hey Siri."
  4. Restart your HomePod or HomePod mini.
  5. Set up "Hey Siri" again. On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Siri & Search, then turn Listen for "Hey Siri" off then on, and follow onscreen instructions to teach Siri your voice.
  6. On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Siri & Search, and make sure that it's set to the same language as your HomePod.

If you have two Apple IDs in your home that have "Hey Siri" set up with the same voice, you might need to turn off Recognize My Voice on one account."

Kind regards.
