My 2019 16-in Macbook Pro (Intel) is struggling to connect with a single HP 24ea monitor thru my HP USB-C Dock G5 after Sonoma update

As the title says, my 2019 16-in Macbook Pro (Intel) is struggling to connect with a single HP 24ea monitor thru my HP USB-C Dock G5 after the OS Sonoma update. By "struggle" I mean that my monitor does turn on when I plug the USB-C cord from the docking station into my laptop, and I can see my screen extension as before, but it glitches, color spikes, then turns off and back on over and over.

I've done some early digging and can't find a solid answer. Before updating last night, I had no issues connecting. My wife's MacBook pro is still on Ventura and is connecting just fine thru the USB-C cord, so I don't believe it's the USB-C cord from the docking station or the docking station itself that is the issue.

If you have advice on an easy fix, or at least an explanation as to why, it would be very useful! Thank you!

The dock is connected to the monitor using a display port cable (dock) that converts to HDMI (monitor). There is no change if I disconnect and reconnect the cable. I do have HDMI as an option on the dock as well, so I tried switching to a cord that is HMDI (dock) to HDMI (monitor) and unfortunately, the issue persists. Honestly, it feels like a software/firmware issue, since the issue only started happening after the Sonoma OS update.

I'm having the exact same issue with a 2020 13" M1 MacBook Pro and the G5 doc with DisplayPort cord. It happened right after updating to Sonoma. My PC laptop that I switch to for work has no issues. I tried a cheap USB C Dongle with HDMI to my Mac with Sonoma and it's working just fine so I think it must be an incompatibility of the HP G5 doc with Sonoma.

Hi, did you happen to find a resolution? I am thinking that we may need to connect the HP dock to a Windows device and update the firmware/drivers. This is a difficult task since we are obviously MacBook users. I am considering asking a windows user friend to connect it to their windows device and try and update the firmware that way but not sure if that would work.

Any relative information you can share to help resolve is appreciated. TY!
