Playlist views always open as "Playlist"

Hi,

I prefer to view my video playlists in list view. When I have a playlist open I change the view from the default "As Playlist" to "As List", but if I change to a different playlist or exit the program when I go back into the playlist it's back to viewing "As Playlist" again.

I'm using MacOS Sonoma

TV 1.4.0.118

on a 2023 Apple M2 Pro Mac mini

Mac mini, macOS 14.0

The problem is,

If you do anything from the menu (File -> New -> New Playlist, Selection, Smart & Folder) or use the shortcut commands to create playlists, they will always get stay stuck on playlist mode. Even if you change the view to list or Grid, click another folder and go back again, your playlists WILL ALWAYS have the default view “Playlist”.

Try this,

on the left side under Playlist, do a right click and choose

“New Playlist”, “New Smart Playlist” or “New Playlist Folder”

Those playlists will not get stuck on Playlist mode and will work perfectly!

Enjoy :)

P.S. I’m using the App Tv version 1.4.3.27

Hi Dan Eldridge,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! We would recommend the steps below that may help edit your playlist:

Manage your library in the Apple TV app on Mac

Edit a playlist
1. In the Apple TV app  on your Mac, click a playlist under Playlist in the sidebar.
If you don’t see the playlist, move the pointer to the right of Playlist, then click the disclosure arrow that appears.
2. Do either of the following:
•Change the playback order of items: Drag the items into the order you want.
•Remove an item: Click the More button  that appears with the item, then choose Remove from Playlist.
•Removing an item from a playlist does not remove it from your library or storage device.

Hope this helps!

Have a great day.

Hello Dan Eldridge,

Thanks for getting back to us with those additional details. Let's try testing to see if we can reproduce the behavior in a new user account. That can help isolate whether the issue is system wide, or account specific.

The following article explains how to set up, and test in a new user: Change Users & Groups settings on Mac

After following the guidance found there, message us back with your result.

Looking forward to hearing back from you. Kind regards.

I created a new user, opened up the TV Application, created 2 playlists and 2 smart playlists. then I copied a few video files to the library, and put a few files in each playlist...It still does that same thing for the new user. I can change the view to "as List" for the play list but it only keeps that view until I leave that playlist as soon as I go back into a playlist it has reverted to the "as Playlist" view

Playlist views always open as "Playlist"
