how do I update to safari 16?
One of my bank websites says safari I have is no longer supported. I have tried through the app store but I don't know which app to choose

Safari is not an App in the App Store.
If there's an Safari update available for the version of macOS you are currently running, it will appear in the Updates section of the App Store.
If there is no update, then it normally means your macOS version has no Safari update available for it, and you would need to update your macOS version to get a newer version of Safari.
Safari 16 requires macOS 11 Big Sur, macOS 12 Monterey or macOS 13 Ventura.

If you have an earlier macOS version than the 3 listed above, you will need to upgrade it to get the newer version of Safari.
