Ultra watch 2 and series 9 - dim display fix?

I recently purchased both a series 9 and an UW2 to replace a S6. Love all 3 BUT the S9 and UW2 are unusable in dim light due to auto dimming. As a comparison I updated the s6 to latest watch OS, and the screen is significantly bright in dim/ dark lighting.

question: does anyone know if this is an issue Apple will fix (grant user access to display settings) with a future OS update?

i have a week to return the watches, but would prefer to keep them if there is confidence that this might be fixed by Apple ( as opposed to the feature works as designed and no changes will be made)

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my post. So I called Apple Support, and your colleague was pretty helpful. We walked through several steps and ultimately unpaired reset, and repaired the watch(UW2). -the final result is the same at the end of the call. The technician did find a bulletin from engineers who stated that the “Watch is working as designed” as a visually impaired person, I find this disappointing, but do have a question for you. Are you aware of any plans from Apple and perhaps a future software update, that we give the user the ability to customize the low setting on the brightness to make it usable by owners of all visual ability? Thank you in advance for your help.
