Keyboard will stop typing in mid input. BTW it just did it as I was typing this

When I type in any text box, or document the keyboard quits responding and I get an audible noise over the speakers. I can't type until I re highlight the cursor with the mouse. The cursor disappears when this happens. It has happened three times when I typed this. It is getting really annoying. It seems to have started to happen when I installed the new OS Sonoma.

Please can anyone help me out and let me know what might be happening.
