Hi all,
I'm looking for suggestions on the best new TV to use with my Apple TV 4K in 2023 models.
I'm leaning towards the Sony A95L 55". My concern is as it uses the Google operating system, can I either ignore it, or override it, and more or less use it as a "dumb" TV and hook up the Apple TV hardware? Would that work?

You can use Apple TV on a Google TV. Send all inputs (set top box, DVR, Apple TV) into an amplifier. Use the amplifier for switching sources. HDMI output of amplifier to HDMI input of TV. Best to disconnect TV from internet and use it as a dumb, not smart TV. Use Apple TV for streaming and your TV for viewing. Otherwise your TV and Apple TV will conflict at times. It took me 2 years to figure this out.
The sad thing though is …
Any TV with HDMI-in will work fine with the Apple TV box. It does not depend in any way on the OS of the TV, smart or not smart.
The Apple TV HD box [A1625] will be limited to HD resolution.
For 4K support, you would have to get a 4K model of the Apple TV box series.

Hey Jonathan, thanks very much for your reply and suggestion. I decided to go with the A80L in the 65" size, plenty large enough for where I use it. The 83" 'er must be huge!
The sad thing though is I guess I'm forced to abandon the Apple TV hardware, as the TV uses the Google OS, which I'm sure you know. I wish there was a way to keep using the Apple TV hardware but that would mean going with another TV brand. Ah well, let's see how good this is. Thanks again!
