Apple TV Remote Volume Control Settings Not Saving os17

I have the same issue since I updated to tv os 17. Subsequent os updates haven’t addressed it either. I have to keep going back to settings and manually selecting RECEIVER VIA IR to get it working again. Even though it’s already selected. Sometimes I’ll find that AUTO and RECEIVER VIA IR are both selected somehow. Extremely annoying.

I have the same issue. I’ve tried restarting.

I control volume by ‘receiver via IR’

Sometimes when I use the Apple TV remote to adjust the volume, it is trying to control volume on the TV via ir… I know this because I see the TV volume level adjustment going up or down on the TV screen when I try to adjust the volume via the Apple TV remote.

However, when the above happens, remote volume adjustment going to TV instead of receiver, and I go to Settings / Remotes and Devices / Volume Control, the Apple TV is still set to control volume on the receiver.

To fix it at that point, I just click on ‘Receiver via IR’ and then it works properly…. Until the next time it does not… usually after the Apple TV has not been used for an hour or so.

does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Try a restart from Settings﹥System﹥Restart.

Does the Volume Control settings stick after this procedure?
