Trying to update my system from Catalina 10.15.7 to at least Big Surprise 10.16 but the checking for updates has been stuck for over an hour- I checked WIFI-Space available -turn it off and back on and nothing works- PLEASE HELP!!!
I understand Software Update is "Checking for updates..." with no end in sight.
Several workarounds have been proposed, such as restarting your Mac in "Safe Mode" and checking for updates while in that mode, and / or resetting NVRAM. Try both.
