I cannot update Catalina Security Update 2022-005 10.15.7 on my 2018 MacBook Air . It will not update and I can't update to any other os such Big Sur or another OS update. It goes through the update process but nothing changes and I'm stuck with Catalina 10.15.7. It has 16gb of ram and 142gb free space.

Make sure you have no MacKeeper or Advanced Mac Cleaner, or anti-virus installed:
Do not install MacKeeper - Apple Community
First make sure you backup your data:

Next, turn off FileVault in Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Privacy and Security.
Next run the 10.5 combo update. Then run
Download Security Update 2022-005 (Catalina)

You can turn back on Filevault when you are finished if you are willing to risk not being able to decrypt your drive if the password information is lost or gets corrupted.
